Madagascar - single origin chocolate bar
This single origin chocolate bar starts its' life in one of the world's finest cocoa producing regions, Madagascar. All of the beans come from this one part of the world giving a distinctive and unique eating experience. This chocolate shares the flavour characteristics reminiscent of Madagascar with a full bodied fruity flavour with hints of coffee and liquorice.
Just like with wine the flavour of the chocolate can change with each harvest. The unique characteristics of the chocolate come from the soil that the trees were grown in and the environment in which they were grown. Even the weather has an impact on the flavour. This is chocolate at its best. At around 70% cocoa (dependant on batch) the flavour of the beans is developed in the roast to give a full bodied and fruity chocolate and eats like a much higher cocoa chocolate.
When I first tasted chocolate from Madagascar I was blown away by the fullness of the flavour without the overwhelming bitterness so common with higher cocoa chocolate - it's my favourite dark chocolate and my go-to bar of choice for a little post-lunch nibble. It eats incredibly smoothly and has a flavour that leaves chocolate lovers wanting more.
The bar is made by pre-crystallising a lovely big vat of molten chocolate then pouring it in to our signature cocoa pod chocolate moulds. The bars are cooled in carefully controlled conditions and, once set, demoulded and packaged straight away to ensure that they arrive on your doorstep as fresh as can be.
The 100g chocolate bar comes packaged in one of our signature red presentation gift boxes (pictured) so will make a great gift. The 40g option is packaged in clear cellophane. A brilliant gift for a food-lover or a taste experience for yourself.
All of our chocolate is made in an area where nuts are used as an ingredient and the bars are all made by hand so the contents will vary slightly from that pictured making it a unique gift or special treat. Once tasted this bar will make you want to start exploring the exciting world of single origin chocolate.
This chocolate is naturally dairy free (although it may contain tiny traces as we process all our chocolate using the same equipment) and is therefore suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. It does contain soy lecithin which is a plant derived ingredient that is used to blend the chocolate to give a deliciously smooth mouth feel. The chocolate may also contain very tiny traces of nuts as we do use nuts (and other allergens) in our workshop although obviously take lots of precautions to avoid the possibility of contamination. If you have any questions about our methods, the ingredients in our chocolate or anything else please contact us - we'll be happy to help.
