These large eggs start life as deliciously smooth chocolate couverture, sustainably and ethically sourced from cocoa farmers- your eggs will not only taste good but do good!
To make your egg we first expertly temper a large vat of our sustainably sourced rich signature dark chocolate. This involves melting chocolate couverture to exactly the correct temperature that it pre-crystallises, thus ensuring that ‘melt-in-the-mouth’ smooth texture when eaten. Once tempered the chocolate is infused with essential ginger oil. The molten chocolate poured into chocolate egg moulds which have been pre-decorated by hand with shimmer powder. Piquant stem ginger chunks are added to one half of your egg. The smell in our workshop while we work is amazing! After two or three *really* thick layers of luxurious chocolate have been added, the egg moulds are cooled in a temperature-controlled unit.
The final stage is for the eggs to be popped out, your filling of crystallised stem ginger chunks and dark chocolate buttons added and the two halves sealed tightly together.
We believe in simple, natural flavours derived from real ingredients, with no nasties added. This, along with the care and attention we give to each individual product- from sustainably sourcing ingredients and packaging, to production and boxing up to be shipped- really sets our chocolate apart from the highstreet ‘norm’.
We are proud that ALL our large eggs will be plastic-free. Your egg will arrive to you (or it’s lucky recipient, if you are gifting it directly from us) foil wrapped inside one of our specially sourced plastic free egg presentation boxes. After eating, both the aluminum foil and card box can be responsibly disposed of in household recycling, or if you are creatively inspired you can re-use them in art work with the children/grandchildren over the Easter holidays!
